Call the Midwife Season 8

In the season finale of Call the Midwife, Shelagh plans a fundraising dance to keep her mind off sending May to her adoptive parents, Sister Hilda connects with a terminally ill patient to give her a final wish, Fred and Reggie are out of sorts and Nurse Dyer is called to testify against her grandmother in an emotional court case.

This week on Call the Midwife, the Mother House sends back-up for an ailing Nurse Crane, a Poplar family faces serious illness due to dangerous work conditions and a teenage mother fights to keep her baby. 

This week in Poplar was a busy one on Call the Midwife! Dr. Turner and company began a new, potentially life-saving cervical (serv-EYE-cal) smear clinic and, after a shaky start, Sister Frances presented her first Mothercraft class. Elsewhere, two patients present mysterious symptoms and romance visits Nonnatus House.

In the latest installment of Call the Midwife, we witness the joy of a family reconciliation and the tragedy of a woman driven to a fatal decision. I suggest we ease into this episode with a look at that quirky little date that wasn’t exactly a date, at least not in the eyes of one of the concerned parties.

This week on Call the Midwife,  Valerie helps a struggling mother accept her son’s birth defect. While overseeing a measles vaccination trial, the Turners encounter an extremely anxious mother with a secret worry. And finally Nurse Crane plans a neighborhood beach party for the upcoming bank holiday, but needs the approval of the new local councilor to make it happen.

This week on Call the Midwife, Lucille assists an elderly hoarder struggling to maintain her independence and the midwives work to help an immigrant family suffering from an unusual illness. It's also election season in Poplar and Violet Buckle is standing for a seat on the local council.

Welcome back to another season of Call the Midwife. Once again I'll be recapping the events and emotions stirred by the next eight episodes of Season 8. If you need to refresh your memory about what happened during the Call the Midwife special that aired at Christmas, you can take a glance at it right here.

To begin, let's set the scene. We return to Poplar in 1964. It's spring, a time for new attitudes, a bit of sprucing up and lots and lots of babies!
