Get a Look at the First Official Image From ‘Victoria’ Season 3
The first official image for Victoria Season 3 is here!
Granted, it’s only an image, not a trailer or any new footage. But for Victoria fans starved for news and Season 3 content of any kind, it’s basically water in the desert.
The new image features stars Jenna Coleman and Tom Hughes as Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, with the queen looking pensive and Albert looking supportive. (Plus, Victoria’s dress is straight amazing, just saying.)
The Masterpiece caption, ominously, reads that the queen “faces a crisis that threatens to end her reign” in the new season. (Even more ominously, the tweet from the official ITV account promises “turbulent times ahead” for the royal couple. So, you know, sounds like it’s going to be a fun season for everybody!)

“It’s a time when the whole of Europe is falling apart,” creator Daisy Goodwin said during PBS's session at the biannual Television Critics Association Press Tour ealier this year. “French kings were getting thrown off the throne, there were riots in Berlin. It’s all going pear-shaped.”
Season 3 will begin in 1848, as revolutions take place on the Continent and the Chartist movement continues to grow in power in London. Victoria finds herself under pressure from her government to leave the city as the unrest worsens. The new season will also reportedly focus on the fallout from Victoria’s many pregnancies and their effect on her relationship with her husband.
Former Inspector Lewis star Laurence Fox is will join the drama as the charismatic and wayward Foreign Secretary Lord Palmerston. Tony and Olivier Award-winning actress Kate Fleetwood will also appear as Victoria’s mysterious sister Theodora, who makes an unexpected return into the Queen’s life. Other notable new faces in Victoria’s third season will include John Sessions, Lily Travers, Nicholas Audsley, Emily Forbes and David Burnett.
Victoria’s third season will officially premiere in the U.S. beginning January 13, 2019. Oddly, no U.K. release date has yet been announced, and given the fact that period drama Vanity Fair took Victoria’s previous Fall airing slot on ITV, it seems unlikely that British viewers will see the series long before we will. Yay, to not having to dodge spoilers, I suppose?
