The new castings for the surprise second season of The Night Manager have been dribbling out in the trades for several days now, with the BBC and Prime Video refusing to comment the whole way. Now that all the names are out there individually, the BBC decided that it might as well put out a press release with all the information in one place, and Prime Video apparently agreed. The release includes a full rundown of the new cat joining the series and who from the original series will return.

The second list is far shorter than the first: Tom Hiddleston is the only one returning from Season 1 of the official press release, reprising his role as Jonathan Pine. (This lines up with a recent interview with Elizabeth Debicki, who said she was not returning and seemed dubious anyone else from Season 1 other than Hiddleston would be asked to sign on either.)

In Debicki's stead, the series has cast American actor Camila Morrone, a recent up-and-comer who made a splash in Prime Video's Daisy Jones & The Six. Morrone's character has not been given a name as yet, but most assume her character will step into the femme fatale role Debicki's Jed occupied in Season 1. The other prominent topline actor to join the series is Mexican actor Diego Calva, who Netflix viewers will recognize from Narcos: Mexico. Again, no character name has been given, and his role is being kept "under wraps," but one assumes that whoever he plays, Jonathan Pine will be spying on him.

However, the cast isn't fully international, as most of the rest of the new cast, along with Hiddleston, hails from the U.K. The most recognizable A-list actor of the group is Indira Varma, who has been a fixture in prestige TV since the mid-aughts when Rome debuted on HBO. She's be joined by Paul Chahidi (The Serpent Queen), and Hiddleston's recent co-star over on Apple TV+, Hayley Squires (The Essex Serpent).

There's still no real synopsis for these further seasons of The Night Manager beyond a very general outline:

Inspired by the characters in John le Carré’s best-selling novel, the upcoming second series features Tom Hiddleston (Loki) reprising his celebrated role as Jonathan Pine, eight years after the explosive finale of series one.

Series creator David Farr will write all episodes of the new season, with director Georgi Banks-Davies helming. Bank-Davies said of the casting, “I wrote my dream list of actors to join The Night Manager, and I can’t quite believe that I am now welcoming that list of talent to the show. What an incredible cast joining the brilliant Tom Hiddleston for this next chapter… I cannot wait to get them in front of the camera now and see the magic come to life.”

The Night Manager Season 2 has no release date but is expected to debut in 2025, with Season 3 to follow in 2026.
