Apple TV+ has announced a premiere date for its first proper period drama, based on the megapopular novel The Essex Serpent. 

Tom Hiddleston has joined the cast of the upcoming AppleTV+ period drama The Essex Serpent, which has swapped out leading lady Keira Knightley for Claire Danes. 

Keira Knightley has found her next period drama. The actress, who has appeared in everything from Colette to The Imitation Game to The Duchess and lots more, will next star in Apple TV+'s upcoming adaptation of Sarah Perry’s novel The Essex Serpent.
