Irish-Canadian 'SisterS' Renewed for Season 2

Sarah Goldberg and Susan Stanley as Sare and Suze in 'SisterS' Season 1
AMC Networks
Most people know a pair of best friends who might as well be siblings, even if they've never been lucky enough to be in that sort of friendship in their lives. However, it's a rare duo who can take that friendship and turn it into an actual story of sisterhood, and an even rarer one that gets their series greenlit by RTE and AMC Networks. But Canadian comedian Sarah Goldberg (Industry) and Irish-born actor Susan Stanley (Hotel Amenities) are a unique pair. Their series, SisterS, debuted on RTE and IFC (and Sundance now and AMC+) in 2023, telling the story of two strangers discovering they are half sisters when one's mother dies. Now the series is back for Season 2 with more Goldberg and Stanley being delightful together.
Season 1 began in Canada, with Goldberg, who plays "Sare," discovering the man she always assumed was her father... not so much. Instead, she's left searching for "an Irish Busker" her mother slept with once decades ago. Her hunt takes her to Ireland, where she discovers she has a half-sister, Suze (Stanley), who's right around the same age. The main difference is that Suze's life is a vortex of disaster that happily sweeps along just about everything it encounters... except for Sare.
By the end of Season 1, the two sisters have broken faith with each other, and Sare returned to Canada, abandoning her newly found half-sibling. But the tables have apparently turned in the intervening time...
Here's the Season 2 synopsis:
Season 2 picks up in Dublin, eighteen months after Sare abandoned her sister Suze, who has just discovered she can’t have the biological child she has just figured out she wants. Meanwhile, in Canada, Sare realizes she is floating in the dreamy haze of denial about who she is but thinks she has managed to board the ‘perfect life’ train just in the nick of time. When an invite to Sare’s wedding lands on Suze’s doorstep, Suze travels to Canada hoping to reconnect with her sister. Then, the sisterly drama ensues.
Goldberg and Stanley return alongside Donal Logue (Vikings) and Sophie Thompson (Sex Education), reprising their roles as Jimmy and Sheryl, respectively. Other stars include Sonja Smits (American Gods), Peter Keleghan (Murdoch Mysteries), Barbara Brennan (Dublin Murders), Jim Annan (Crawford), Linda Kash (Cavendish), Dylan Taylor (Station Eleven), and Vanessa Matsui (Saint-Pierre).
Season 2 was once again created by Stanley and Goldberg, with their characters Sare and Suze loosely based on their own friendship. Stanley is technically the head writer, with writers Karen Kicak, Nessa Wrafter, and Paul Stanley also helping pen episodes. Director Yael Staav (Workin Moms) helmed all episodes.
SisterS Season 2 is currently filming in Canada. It will return on RTÉ in Ireland, Crave in Canada, and on IFC, Sundance Now, and AMC+ in the US, slated for sometime in 2026
