Nearly two years after it initially premiered on BritBox, production is underway for a second season of Karen Pirie, based on the novels by Val McDermid.
Netflix and the BBC announcing they would produce a Lockerbie miniseries caused the Sky/Peacock miniseries to get a move on, and now there are two competing shows of the same name heading to the small screen.
ITV has recommissioned Karen Pirie for a second season, based on Val McDermid's mystery series of the same name. The new season will draw from the series' second novel A Darker Domain.
Karen Pirie, adapted from the first book in a six-part series by Val McDermid (Shetland, Vera), is a smart, feminist take on the police procedural, with Lauren Lyle in the title role.
