Starz cancels The Serpent Queen after a brilliant second season while aiming to launch a spinoff starring Minnie Driver as Queen Elizabeth I.

In the season finale of The Serpent Queen Season 2, Catherine avenges all who have wronged her, leading to an infamous massacre.

"Trust no one" has always been Catherine de Medici's cardinal rule in The Serpent Queen. As alliances shift and change, she must evaluate the loyalty of everyone, even her own children.

Seeking an alliance with England, Catherine arranges a marriage between her son Charles and Elizabeth I as The Serpent Queen Season 2 heads towards civil war. 

Catherine admits to a terrible mistake and resigns from the Privy Council, while Elizabeth I takes a jaunt on the Continent. Maybe it's time for The Serpent Queen to plan a wedding!
