The selections for the 77th Cannes Film Festival are out, kicking off this year's awards season first looks. The U.K. and Ireland have put up decent showings in a year that looks like it will be spicy.

If you can't get tickets to the new production of Macbeth featuring Ralph Fiennes and Indira Varma, you'll still be able to catch the duo together in The Beacon, a family drama written by Fiennes himself.

Dev Patel enters his action hero era; however, his directorial debut, Monkey Man, which he co-wrote and stars in, is not psychologically probing.

Benedict Cumberbatch (Eric) and Olivia Colman (Wicked Little Letters) have been tapped to star opposite one another in The Roses, a remake of the 1989 dark comedy The War of the Roses. 

Wicked Little Letters suffers from a severe tone problem as if the deepest resonance of its true story is struggling to be heard from within the British romp formula.

Fresh off his recent Oscar win for Best Actor, Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer) is set to reprise his role as Tommy Shelby for Steven Knight's Peaky Blinders movie.
