The first trailer for the upcoming AMC crime drama Kin is here, a gritty story of an Irish gang war that breaks out between two families.

Set in Dublin, the eight-part drama follows the Kinsellas, a tight-knit family who find themselves running afoul of the brutal drug kingpin Eamon Cunningham after a hot-headed altercation results in the death of a child. Outnumbered, out-financed, and out-gunned, the Kinsellas find themselves holed up in their Dublin stronghold while their businesses fail and family members and associates are picked off. But they have something the cartel does not: the unbreakable bonds of blood and family.

Described as a battle between David and Goliath, the series dives headfirst into Dublin's seedy underworld, where gangsters are the equivalent of celebrities, and murder and loyalty go hand in hand. Though there are many elements of this series that feel familiar - most contemporary gangland tales tend to follow the same general outlines and emotional beats - the series outstanding ensemble cast is full of precisely the sort of performers that are more than capable of making everything old feel new again.

The minute and a half clip does its best to set up the messy conflict between the Kinsellas and Eamon's empire while showing us that no one is likely to emerge from this face-off unscathed.

Watch for yourselves below.

The series features former Daredevil star Charlie Cox as Michael Kinsella, Game of Thrones fan favorite Aidan Gillan as Kinsella patriarch Frank, The Terror standout and fellow Thrones alum Ciaran Hinds as the cartel leader Cunningham, Orphan Black and Outlander star Maria Doyle Kennedy as Bridget “Birdy” Goggins, Peaky Blinders' Emmet J. Scanlan as Jimmy Kinsella, Herself's Clare Dunne as Amanda Kinsella, and newcomer Yasmin Seky as Nikita Murphy.

Kin will premiere on AMC's premium streaming platform AMC+ beginning Thursday, September 9.
