‘Poldark’ Season 2 Gets a US Premiere Date and a New Trailer
Attention, Poldark fans – your wait is almost over. The popular period drama, which is set to return for a second season this Fall, finally has a US airdate, as well as a brand new trailer promoting its return.
Season 2 will begin on PBS’ Masterpiece with a two-hour premiere on September 25, and will continue on Sunday nights through November 27.
Stars Aidan Turner, Eleanor Tomlinson, Heida Reed, Ruby Benthall and Kyle Soller are all back, alongside new cast additions John Nettles and Gabriella Wilde. When last we saw the Poldark crew, Ross had just been arrested, he and Demelza had just lost their child, and the family mine was broke. Oh, and Ross had also been arrested. The new episodes basically pick up right about where we left off at the end of Season 1, so there's a lot for everyone to deal with.
As part of their presentation at the summer edition of the biannual Television Critics Association Press Tour, Masterpiece debuted a Season 2 trailer, the first featuring substantial new footage from the show’s return. The new clip features basically the things you’d expect, including Turner taking his shirt off and riding his majestic horse through some beautiful Cornish countryside in slow motion. Woohoo!

Poldark Season 2 kicks off Labor Day weekend (September 4) in the UK, so this means that we’ll only be a couple of weeks behind our friends across the pond when new episodes start here. And given the fact that the first episode in the US is actually a supersize double episode, we’ll be inching even closer in terms of a broadcast window. Exciting times!
And in case you were nervous about this, the period drama has already been renewed for a third season ahead of its second season premiere. Need a refresher on what happened during Season 1? We’ve got recaps of every Poldark episode to help you out. Go and get caught up.
