'Outlander's Season 7 Trailer for Part 2 Has Familiar Faces & New Dangers
Though we've been singing a song of a lass that is gone for a decade now, the life-shifting force of Outlander's Claire (Catriona Baife) and Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) remains as powerful as it's ever been — at least if the trailer for the second half of the series' seventh season is anything to go by. Though the clip teases the Frasers' long-awaited return to Scotland (and that scenery looks lush), it also hints that another separation awaits everyone's favorite time-bending romance and plenty of danger along the way.
Picking up from the mid-season finale, Season 7, Part 2 sees Claire, Jamie, and Young Ian (Jamie Bell) return to Jamie's childhood home of Lollybroch. The trailer confirms the returns of several fan favorites, including Jenny Fraser Murray (Kristin Atherton), Geillis Duncan (Lotte Verbeek), and Dougal MacKenzie (Graham McTavish), but also reveals that Claire's time in Scotland looks to be very brief indeed, as she's called back to America to tend to a medical emergency. Meanwhile, Roger (Richard Rankin) and Brianna (Sophie Skelton) must face their own problems across time as he journies through the stones to find their missing son, Jemmy, and she remains behind with their daughter in the 1980s.
While the trailer ends rather ominously for Jamie and hints that, at least for some point, Claire may wonder if her husband is still alive, fans can rest easy. There's still another season of Outlander filmed and waiting to finish the Frasers' story properly, no matter what happens in this finale. (Not to mention, Heughan has been busily Instagramming behind-the-scenes snaps from Season 8 filming and shots of slicing filming anniversary cakes with swords.) Jamie'll be fine, even if we're meant to worry about him for a bit.
Here's the Season 7, Part 2 synopsis:
Coming off of the first half of Outlander season seven, viewers find Claire, Jamie, and Young Ian leaving the colonies and arriving in their beloved homeland: Scotland. The perils of the Revolutionary War forced them to choose between standing by those they loved and fighting for the land they had made their new home.
Meanwhile, Roger and Brianna face new enemies across time and must battle the forces that threaten to pull their family apart. As loyalties change and painful secrets come to light, Jamie and Claire’s marriage is tested like never before. With their love binding them over oceans and centuries, can the MacKenzies and Frasers find their way back to each other?
Alongside Balfe, Heughan, Skelton, Rankin, and Bell, “Outlander” also stars David Berry (Hapless) as Lord John Grey, Charles Vandervaart (Murdoch Mysteries) as William Random, Izzy Meikle-Small (Ripper Street) as Quaker woman Rachel Hunter and Joey Phillips (Doctors) as her brother, Dr. Denzell Hunter.
Outlander Season 7, Part 2 will premiere on Friday, November 22, 2024, and air/stream new episodes weekly on Starz's linear network, the Starz app, and all Starz streaming and on-demand platforms. Outlander Season 8 (the first half, anyway) is expected to debut in 2025 long with the new prequel spinoff, Outlander: Blood of My Blood.
