'Miss Fisher & The Crypt Of Tears' Wraps Filming

Miss Fisher & The Crypt Of Tears has wrapped filming after bringing aboard their Kickstarter backers for a day on the set.

The new year is just around the corner. The arrival of 2019 brings with it the first new Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries content made since 2015, the big screen debut of feature film Miss Fisher & The Crypt of Tears. The film began production back in October, and with the arrival of the holidays, has wrapped up principle photography.

Director Tony Tilse, who was behind the camera for the majority of Miss Fisher's TV episodes, took the helm directing the film, and his Instagram account is an excellent diary of the process. Here are a few select photos:

The caption on this one reads "Watching Rushes." Tilse is not one for spoilers.

The images he's been posting come from London and Morocco, as well as Australia, giving fans an idea of the depth and scope of the production.

This one is my personal favorite. It looks like a spooky warehouse where something precious is hiding, as are a killer or two. The caption reads "Lighting discussions."

This one is entitled "Last day/night" Not that movies shoot their sequences in order, especially one like this where parts of the adventure are globetrotting experiences. But somehow it seems fitting to end a Miss Fisher movie with a shot of a glamorous car.

But before the film wrapped for the year, the Miss Fisher production team brought 'round the crowdfunders who helped make the movie possible. Those who gave over a certain amount  to the fundraising effort were flown to the set, dressed up in period clothing and got to play extras in the film.

Fans will have to keep a sharp eye out to see if any of these lucky backers make it into the final cut of the film.

As for when the movie will arrive, no date has been set yet, but with the Downton Abbey movie also finishing up filming in the same general time frame, it seems like the two may find themselves in theaters around the same time in 2019, with Miss Fisher perhaps arriving a little ahead of Downton's September 13, 2019, release date.

Miss Fisher also has a spin-off series arriving next year, Ms Fisher's MODern Murder Mysteries, a series set in the 1960s, featuring a "Ms" Fisher for a new generation. The debut is set to happen soon on Australia's Channel 7, but no word on when fans in the states will be seeing it either. But if we're all fortunate, the back half of 2019 could wind up being a Miss Fisher mystery revival for PBS fans.
