Get Your First Look at Jenna Coleman as Queen Victoria
Prepare yourselves, period drama fans – the first bit of footage from the highly anticipated upcoming series Victoria has arrived!
The eight-part drama will tell the story of England’s Queen Victoria, from her ascension to the throne in June of 1837 through her courtship and marriage to Prince Albert.
Doctor Who alum Jenna Coleman stars as the young Victoria, who came to the British throne at just 18 years of age, and proceeded to reign for 63 years. She was the longest-serving British monarch in history until her record was broken last September by the current queen, Elizabeth II.
UK network ITV has shared an all-too brief snippet from the costume drama, attached to the end of Our Queen at 90, a special commemorating Queen Elizabeth’s upcoming birthday.
In it, we see a brief shot of Victoria’s coronation, complete with pomp, circumstance and lots of amazing costumes.

Granted, this is a 15 second clip with one line of dialogue, but still – this looks all kinds of splashy and grand, yeah?
Coleman will be joined by Tom Hughes as Prince Albert, Rufus Sewell as Lord Melbourne, Victoria’s first prime minister, Alex Jennings as King Leopold I of Belgium, and more.
Victoria is due to air on ITV sometime later this year, and will hit PBS’ Masterpiece in Downton Abbey’s old timeslot, beginning in January 2017.
