Filming Wraps on ‘Sherlock’ Season 4
We’re one step closer to new episodes of Sherlock - Season 4 has officially wrapped filming, as of last week.
This news isn’t that surprising – the Sherlock crew basically said during their appearance at San Diego Comic Con that they only had about two weeks of shooting left to go anyway.
Nevertheless, there’s still a sense of excitement about the fact that the production team has been tweeting so much about the end of filming. To be honest, everyone’s probably pretty stoked that we’re this much closer to seeing Season 4.
Director Benjamin Caron tweeted the official announcement that Season 4 had wrapped:
It's a WRAP on #sherlock series IV 2016 https://t.co/54071E7BDu

Production designer Arwel Wyn Jones shared a photo with series’ stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.

Co-creator Mark Gatiss’ end of filming tweet was a bit more…dramatic:

Honestly, I preferred his “one week of filming to go” update, myself, just because the photo that accompanied it is amazing:

Several of the Sherlock cast members had wrapped filming a few days earlier, and tweeted their own goodbyes to Season 4.
Louise Brealey tweeted several photos of the final days of Season 4 filming featuring not just herself, but co-stars Rupert Graves and Una Stubbs.

Amanda Abbington’s tweet announcing a “Golden Wrap” on her character Mary Watson, immediately drew speculation about whether this was some kind of hint that she might be done with Sherlock permanently.

Sadly, neither Cumberbatch nor Freeman use social media, so we’re all still missing out on what I’m sure would be glorious end-of-season tweets from them.
Get in the sprit for Season 4 by watching the new trailer for it below, and then get to work on crafting those countdown calendars next year.
Sherlock is slated to return to our televisions in early 2017.
Are you excited?
