So the ‘Sherlock’ Season 4 Trailer is Pretty Amazing

Lots of exciting things happened at San Diego Comic Con over the weekend, but perhaps nothing more so than the release of the first tantalizing footage from Sherlock Season 4.

PBS hosted a Comic Con panel focused on the popular detective series, featuring stars Benedict Cumberbatch and Amanda Abbington, along with series creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, and executive producer Sue Vertue. As part of the convention festivities, the Sherlock gang answered some fan questions, gave us a few extremely vague tidbits from Season 4 and some hilarious filming stories (apparently that dog from the season’s first photo? Not so much into actually cooperating with actors).

But more importantly, they also dropped the first trailer for the new season, and it’s everything that you thought it could be and more.

Watch the new trailer (several times, maybe) for yourselves below:

According to Moffat and Gatiss, Season 4 is about two weeks from wrapping production, and the duo promises that this set of episodes will be the show’s darkest yet, if you want to start getting nervous about that now.

Team Sherlock also revealed the three buzzwords for the new season, and this time around it’s all names: Thatcher, Smith and Sherrinford.

Start your speculation engines now….we’ve got a lot of time to kill between now and 2017.

Theories on what’s going on in this trailer? Is Moriarty really alive? Is Sherlock having a breakdown? Are we going to see another Holmes brother pop up out of nowhere next year? Why is guest star Toby Jones’ laugh so creepy?

Hit the comments and let’s discuss.
