'Am I Being Unreasonable' Returns with a Season 2 Trailer
The extremely dark and funny Am I Being Unreasonable? is one of those comedies that people forget when discussing the sitcom as an endangered species. A slightly deranged comedy from the team of Daisy May Cooper and Selin Hizli (This Country), the series embodies the new type of comedy that's grown in popularity in this decade: the ones that make you laugh because otherwise you'd cry.
Cooper stars as Nic, a woman whose life is dictated by her children's schedules, bored with her husband, Dan, and having an affair. Or she was; however, he inconveniently died, so now she's grieving for a boyfriend no one knows she had on top of everything else. Close to unraveling, she meets a new neighborhood mom, Jen (Hizli), and the two become instant besties. Or as close to besties as one can when each lies about significant parts of their lives.
Season 1 ended with viewers learning each character's big secret: Jen's friending Nic was no accident; Dan is also cheating, and Jen was ready to expose him until she began to realize things in their marriage were way more screwed up than a married dude with a Tinder profile. However, it does lead to Nic and Dan getting separated, which is probably the best outcome for all involved.
As for Nic's secret, well... Let's just say it's far, far less altruistic in its intent than anything Jen was keeping quiet.
Here's the synopsis for the second season:
Am I Being Unreasonable? Season 2 will begin where series one left off: mid-panic attack. Has Nic got away with murder? Quite possibly. Has she raised her son Ollie to follow in her murky footsteps?
Kicked out of the family home for brotherly love – loving the wrong brother – Nic is reduced to sharing a caravan with her not-so-trustworthy best friend, Jen. Nic’s Husband, Dan, has taken up rollerblading to channel his mid-life crisis. Shunned at the school gates and cast as the witch at the school re-enactment, Nic is experiencing hallucinations. Or is someone playing tricks on her?
Cooper and Hizli once again co-star with Dustin Demri-Burns (Slow Horses), Lenny Rush (Doctor Who), David Fynn (Belgravia: The Next Chapter), Juliet Cowan (Culprits), Phil Dunning (Boat Story), Georgie Glenn (Call the Midwife), Beatie Edney (Poldark), Amanda Wilkin (Until I Kill You), Helen Ann Bauer (Extraordinary), Marek Larwood (Drunk History) and Karla Crome (Misfits).
Season 2 guest stars include Charlie Cooper (This Country), Tom Davis (W1A), Denise Black (Queer as Folk), Jamali Maddix (Outsiders), British rapper Kojey Radical and American actor Chelsea Peretti (Brooklyn Nine-Nine).
Cooper and Hizli wrote all episodes of Am I Being Unreasonable. Emily McDonald once again directed all six installments with Pippa Brown producing. Cooper and Hizli also executive produce, along with Shane Allen and Jack Thorne.
Am I Being Unreasonable Season 2 will debut on BBC One on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, and will stream on Hulu later in the spring.
