Like most U.K. shows that Hulu picks up on its own without the marketing of Disney+, Am I Being Unreasonable? did not make much of an impact when it debuted in 2023. The title didn't help; named after the British version of Reddit's AITA advice forum, most Americans would have most likely been put off by the very British English even if they were people who read AIBU's sometimes hilarious, sometimes tragic posts. It also didn't help that no one had brought over star Daisy May Cooper's previous hit show, This Country, which was a mega-hit in the U.K. partially due to the fortuitous timing of reaching iPlayer right as the COVID lockdowns started back up in 2021. Combining those factors in the U.K. made the show an out-of-the-box hit with 3.2 million viewers and landed it a second season despite American disinterest.

Written by and starring Cooper and her real-life BFF Selin Hizli (Grantchester), the first season of Am I Being Unreasonable featured Cooper as Nic, a woman trapped in a loveless marriage, still grieving her ex-lover Alex, who recently died but who she cannot talk about with anyone, since well, she was kinda married to Dan the whole time they were together. Hizli plays Jen, a new neighbor who recently had her first kid and strikes up an odd friendship with Nic, seemingly trying to get her to confess to the affair. In reality, she befriended Nic to tell her she'd found Dan's Tinder to expose him as a cheat, only to discover the situation was far more complicated than she realized.

Season 1 ended with a massive twist that exposed to the viewer the secret Nic is hiding, a secret no one else knows so far. Season 2 will pick up where Season 1 left off, but this time with the viewers carrying Nic's heavy baggage along with them. But Cooper won't be alone, as Charlie Cooper, her co-star from This Country, will be coming along for the ride.

Here's the synopsis for the second season:

Am I Being Unreasonable? Season 2 will begin where series one left off: mid-panic attack. Has Nic got away with murder? Quite possibly. Has she raised her son Ollie to follow in her murky footsteps? Kicked out of the family home for brotherly love – loving the wrong brother – Nic is reduced to sharing a caravan with her not-so-trustworthy best friend, Jen. Nic’s Husband, Dan, has taken up rollerblading to channel his mid-life crisis. Shunned at the school gates and cast as the witch at the school re-enactment, Nic is experiencing hallucinations. Or is someone playing tricks on her?
