BBC America has released the first official trailer for its upcoming spy thriller Killing Eve, a series which pits two fiercely intelligent women against one another in an epic game of cat and mouse.

Grey’s Anatomy alum Sandra Oh plays the titular Eve, a bored but whip-smart MI-5 desk jockey looking for excitement. She finds it in the form of The White Princess star Jodie Comer’s Villanelle, a mercurial, talented killer. Their warped, combative relationship drives the bulk of the series’ plot as the two must match wits against one another.

(Part of me thinks this sounds kind of like a female-focused take on Luther, but I’m so into this premise I kind of don’t care. Bring it on, ladies)

Watch the perfectly creepy teaser trailer for the series below:

Killing Eve isn’t BBC America’s first foray into original programming. The American version of the very British brand successfully co-produced the critically acclaimed Canadian series Orphan Black, which ran for five seasons and earned its star Tatiana Maslany an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in 2016. BBC America also produced some less memorable and generally unsuccessful fare, such as the period drama Copper and the Douglas Adams adaptation Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency.

Killing Eve clearly aims to be more like the former, rather than the later. And the thriller certainly has the pedigree to back up the network’s hopes. The series is written by Fleabag creator (and star) Phoebe Waller Bridge, adapted from ‘Villanelle’ novellas by Luke Jennings. Other familiar faces in the cast include Fiona Shaw as Carolyn Martens, David Haig as Eve’s colleague Bill, and Kim Bodnia as Konstantin.

Killing Eve premieres April 8 on BBC America. Anybody planning to check it out?
