'A Good Girl's Guide to Murder' Will Solve a New Mystery in Season 2
Netflix and the BBC have confirmed that the popular teen thriller A Good Girl's Guide to Murder will be back for another round of teenage crime-solving.
The series' first season introduced Pippa “Pip” Fitz-Amobi, a young true crime enthusiast who becomes convinced her small town's most famous death isn't as open and shut as everyone seems to think and takes it upon herself to find the truth. Season 2 will adapt Good Girl, Bad Blood, the second installment in author Holly Jackson's bestselling series of YA novels, and its story will see Pip confronted with a new mystery to solve.
At the end of Season 1, both Pip and her Buckinghamshire town were left reeling by the uncomfortable truths revealed in the Andie Bell case. Facing some big life questions of her own --- as well as some unresolved romantic issues with her investigative partner Ravi --- she's determined to leave the mystery-solving business behind. But it seems as though the case of Andie's killer isn't quite done with her yet.
Emma Myers (Wednesday) is returning in the lead role of Pippa Fitz-Amobi opposite Zain Iqbal as Ravi. Further casting is not yet known, but we'll likely see some of the students from the first season return as well.
“I am BEYOND thrilled that we can continue Pip’s story and, this time, I’m writing on the show!" Jackson said in a statement. "We owe everything to the dedicated fans, and I can’t wait to reunite with my AGGGTM family!”
The first season of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder premiered on the streamer in August and debuted at No. 1 on its Global Top 10 TV list.
Here's the Season 2 synopsis.
After solving the Andie Bell case Pip‘s world has been transformed by her actions, and not always for the better. Pip is determined to fix the fallout - and stay away from any more investigations. But as Max Hastings’ trial approaches, key witness Jamie Reynolds suddenly disappears and Pip finds herself in a race against time to find him. This new mystery will take Pip to unexpected places as she struggles with the idea of justice, straying even further from the 'good girl' she once was.
Season 1 was written and adapted for the screen by Poppy Cogan, who do the same for Season 2, this time alongside Jackson herself.
“I’m delighted to be back in Little Kilton with Pip and friends for season two, and to have the opportunity to bring another of Holly’s gripping stories to the screen," Cogan said.
A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is produced by Moonage Pictures for BBC iPlayer and BBC Three, in co-production with Netflix and ZDFneo. Executive producers include Jackson and Cogan, alongside Matthew Read, Simon Crawford Collins, and Frith Tiplady for Moonage Pictures; and Lucy Richer, Danielle Scott-Haughton, and Katherine Bond for the BBC.
The first season of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder is now streaming on Netflix.
