This week was our chance to get to know the more introverted twin, Stephens Croft (Peter Mark Kendall), on Watson. Stephens took center focus when his camgirl girlfriend, Porsche (Sofia Kane) was brought in as the patient of the week. Before the team could figure out what was wrong with Porsche, they had to find her.

Stephens referred Porsche to a doctor during their call at the top of the episode, noting that she was feverish and sweaty. He also clocked a glass of cranberry juice on her bedside table. He took that info to John (Morris Chestnut) when Porsche didn't come to the hospital as Stephens had urged, and the two concluded she had an unchecked urinary tract infection. When Stephens checked in with Porsche again, she appeared much weaker and then collapsed during the session.

The team started using clues like the paintings behind her backdrop to find out where she was. Sasha (Inga Schlingmann) and Ignrid (Eve Harlow) tried to track down the address through the European vibrator Porsche had on her table next to the cranberry juice. The painting led John and Stephens to Porsche's old apartment. The guy inside informed them her real name was Annie Wilson and she left him three months ago. As they left the apartment, Shinwell (Ritchie Coster) told them that Porsche was getting worse on screen and that dark purple spots were taking over her body. She had moved into septic shock and the team had only four hours to find her and get her help before it was too late.

The Sex Toy Is a Red Herring

The sex toy led to a dead end. The address Sasha and Ingrid got from the manufacturer led them to a PO Box address instead of an actual apartment. The boys had a bit more luck when they uncovered that Porsche/Annie had a restraining order filed against her ex, whom they just met. Adams (Kendall) suggested they bring in his girlfriend Lauren (Amanda Crew), who also happened to be Stephens' ex. The embarrassment of this situation never stops for Stephens.

Lauren managed to put in a call to Annie/Porsche's lawyer, but it wasn't necessary. John figured out the name of the camgirl's dog and called him over to the camera. The goal was to read the address off his tags, but Brutus knocked over the camera set up instead. The new angle exposed Porsche's mail on the counter and a zoomed in shot showed the team a piece of paper where Porsche had repeatedly practiced writing her new name. They used her new name – Kathryn – to find her current address and immediately sent paramedics.

The rushed antibiotics did not do enough to cure Porsche's sepsis, so the team still had more digging to do. John, Stephens, and Sasha returned to her apartment and found her high school yearbook, confirming she was from New Mexico, as she told Stephens at the top of the episode. The location helped the team put out feelers to potential members of Porsche's family in hopes of getting a fuller picture of her medical history so they could figure out the root cause of her sepsis and treat it.

While the team researched, Stephens sat by Porsche's bedside and recited Shakespeare by memory. We should all be so lucky to have a guy we barely know track us down to cure our mysterious illnesses and recite soliloquies from our favorite plays while we recover! And they say chivalry is dead.

Porsche's mother called just in time to inform the team that her daughter had been to New Mexico recently. She spent two weeks on the rabbit farm where she grew up and was bitten by one of the bunnies during the trip. Stephens deduced that the bunny had caused Porsche bubonic plague, and John figured out that a rare genetic mutation had allowed Porsche to survive the case. They gave her another round of medication and she was able to make a full recovery. Unfortunately, Stephens ended their relationship because he was finally done wallowing in heartbreak. That's so sad since it seemed the two had a real connection.

Of course, Stephens wasn't the only one going through it in the episode. During breaks in the investigation, Sasha worked hard to come up with an adequate surprise for Ingrid's birthday, despite the latter begging her not to. Sasha went ahead anyway and got Ingrid a cake. Ingrid responded with a dress down about how Sasha tries to "write endings" to control everything in her life, from becoming friends to her fake engagement. The lecture was so harsh that Sasha ended up dumping her boyfriend. Ingrid spent her birthday alone, sitting on some rocks and overlooking a dusty pond.

John was also wallowing in guilt about Sherlock Holmes's final day alive. The detective ditched him to face Moriarty (Randall Park) alone and that's how he ended up dead. Shinwell gave John a pep talk about being unable to talk Sherlock out of anything, but Shinwell was also dealing with a guilty conscience. Moriarty had him switch John's pills again and Shinwell contemplated telling the doctor, but ultimately chickened out.

That means John will potentially be off his game when Moriarty returns in next week's episode. The plot thickens!

Watson continues Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. Episodes are available to stream the next day on Paramount+.
