Watch the Trailer for ‘Grantchester’ Season 3

Grantchester, Season 3 MASTERPIECE on PBS Part One Sunday, June 18, 2017 from 9 - 10:30pm ET It’s the week before Christmas, 1954. Vicar Sidney Chambers is engrossed with holiday duties, but distracted by an impossible situation — how can a vicar and a woman carrying her estranged husband’s baby ever make it work? If that isn’t enough to keep him busy, there’s a new case to solve. When a would-be groom is found dead with the wedding rings lodged in his mouth, Geordie is horrified: these are the hallmarks of a years-old unsolved murder. The highly anticipated third season of mystery series Grantchester comes to PBS stations nationwide this June. And now, thanks to the fine folks at Masterpiece, we finally have a trailer for it!
Based on the “Grantchester Mysteries” books by author James Runcie, the series stars James Norton and Robson Green as the unlikely crime solving duo of vicar Sidney Chambers and overworked police inspector Geordie Keating.
Grantchester Season 3 begins Sunday, June 18, as part of this summer’s Masterpiece Mystery run. Much like the two previous seasons, it will likely map to one of Runcie’s novels – the third of which is the ominously titled Sidney Chambers and the Problem of Evil.
When we left things at the end of Season 2, Sidney and Amanda had finally acknowledged their obvious-to-anyone-with-eyes feelings for one another. But what sort of future can there realistically be for a vicar and a married woman who’s pregnant with her husband’s child?
Clearly, there’s going to be lots going on in Season 3. So mark your calendars and watch the trailer for the new season for yourselves below:

Sidney looks suitably tortured and conflicted, as we all expected. While he and Geordie are still clearly investigating murders – since that’s kind of the point of the show, it’s obvious that our favorite vicar is really going to struggle with how to reconcile his spiritual calling with his feelings for Amanda. So, prepare for drama. (And probably angst. Just a guess. That’s usually how stories like this go before the can ever stand a chance of being happy.)
Additionally, for those who’ve been curious – the US broadcast of Grantchester Season 3 is comprised of seven episodes, rather than the six that aired in the U.K. This is because American audiences will finally get to see the 2016 Christmas special, in addition to the six “normal” installments of the series’ third season. Rejoice!
