Watch the Temptation-Filled Trailer for 'Grantchester' Season 5
Mystery series Granchester will air its fifth season this June on Masterpiece, the first full outing for new vicar Tom Brittney, who replaced original series star James Norton last year. And things appear to be heating up in more ways than one.
At least if the new PBS trailer for Season 5 is anything to go by. Featuring Brittney alongside his co-star Robson Green, and fan favorites Al Weaver, Kacey Ainsworth, Tessa Peake-Jones and more, the season will nevertheless bring big changes for the show and all its charactrers.
Using the tagline "Resist. All Temptation.", the new spot seems to hint that vicar Will Davenport's struggles with his vow of celibacy, as well as Geordie's ongoing marriage woes and Leonard's attempt to live a life that reflects his true self will all prove major battles - and storylines - this season. And may not all go smoothly.
Though its atmosphere reflects Prime Minister Harold Macmillan's idea that the British people had ‘never had it so good’, it certainly looks as though there are dark problems lurking in the shadows of this new Eden. At the very least, it looks like everyone will be sorely tried along the way.
Season 5 will pick up a year on from the events of last season, having given Will time to settle properly into his role as professional role as vicar, as well as in his personal relationship with partner Geordie Keating. How their friendship will have evolved since the last time we saw them, is anyone's guess, but it seems safe to say that the pair will at least be more comfortable with one another, if not outright friends at this point. We'll have to wait and see.
Grantchester returns on Sunday, June 14. Are you looking forward to the new season? What are you hoping to see in it? Let's discuss in the comments.
