Antonin Carême life has gotten more complicated as his successes compound. Having passed the halfway point and with only two episodes left after Episode 6, "Trompe L’oeil," Carême, the drama was bound to escalate, especially as the series reaches 1815 and the "hundred days" where Louis XVIII was fighting to stay the rightful king. But the real drama comes from Antoine Carême's past, which insists on following him wherever he goes, and which he may need a specific recipe to make disappear..

Warning: Spoilers for Carême Season 1, Episode 5 follow.

So much happened in Episode 5, "The Contest"! It started off slowly with Antonin mourning Bailly's arrest and the loss of the shop that he thought of as home. But once Talleyrand announced he was hosting France's ultimate culinary competition, things picked up as Carême decided to compete. Unfortunately, his lapin à l'istrettu failed; however, his dish was still enough to secure him the title of best cook. But all that paled in the face of romance as Antonin and Agathe's first kiss happened after Antonin told Agathe that he was leaving, and he was leaving the kitchen to her.

However, things take a turn in Episode 6, as the first clip of the episode, "Don't Need It," shows Catherine Grand (Sigrid Bouaziz) giving Carême a lethal substance meant to poison Catherine's husband, Talleyrand, should the need arise.

Watch the clip below.
