The BBC has finally announced the return date for Beyond Paradise, the successful spinoff series of Death in Paradise, where former St. Marie detective DI Humphrey Goodman (Kris Marshall) solves crimes much closer to home in Shipton Abbott in Devon, where his partner-in-life Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton) hails from. After the new series established it was a hit in Season 1, the BBC and BritBox, who co-produce Beyond Paradise, started scheduling the shows to run back-to-back, with Death in Paradise keeping its usual wintertime berth and Beyond Paradise arriving in the spring a week or two after the season finale.

The schedule is working, because both networks are doing it again. Death in Paradise Season 14 just concluded on the BBC on March 7, and will wrap up on BritBox in a week or so on March 19, 2025. Then Beyond Paradise will arrive at the end of March in the U.K. and follow a few weeks later on BritBox. The trailer for the new season is below.

Beyond Paradise Season 3 will see Marshall and Bretton return alongside the usual suspects of Barbara Flynn (The Durrells in Corfu), Zahra Ahmadi (The Beast Must Die), Dylan Llewellyn (Derry Girls), Felicity Montagu (Tom Jones), and Jade Harrison (The Midwich Cuckoos). Supporting cast includes Chris Jenks (Karen Pirie), Jamie Bamber (Cannes Confidential), Eva Feiler (The Crown), Amalia Vitale (Big Mood), Chizzy Akudolu (Best Interests), and no-longer-a-newcomer Melina Sinadinou. Bella Rei Blue Stevenson will join the cast as Rosie, the new foster kid in the Goodman-Lloyd Household, plus as always, there will be a host of guest stars showing up every week.

Oh, and last but not least, Season 3 will bring back Selwyn the Duck (Quack)!

Here's the Season 3 synopsis:

The team faces a host of baffling cases in the upcoming series, including a body discovered in a river on the county border, a perplexing chocolate box poisoning, a long-standing farming feud, and a spiking incident at sea. Away from the police station, Martha and Humphrey must overcome unexpected hurdles as foster parents, while the reappearance of Martha’s old flame Archie presents an unexpected challenge.

Meanwhile, Esther experiences a surprising twist in her personal life, Anne confronts painful memories following a health scare, and Kelby embarks on a transformative journey of self-discovery.

However! Before the new season debuts on either side of the pond, there's Red Nose Day. The charity fundraiser, produced by Comic Relief, is one of the two major telethon events that the BBC does every year as part of its mission to serve the public good. (The other, Children in Need, occurs in November and usually features a Doctor Who sketch.) Red Nose Day's origins in comedy means it usually has sketches in which shows make fun of themselves or come up with hilarious clever crossovers. Previous years have featured a Love Actually sequel, Rose Nose Day Actually and Sir Lenny Henry regenerating into David Tennant. That honor goes to Beyond Paradise this year, which will crossover with the sitcom Not Going Out

The two shows are crossing over due to Bretton, who stars in both. Her character in Not Going Out is married to comedian Lee Mack, who apparently will show up in Devon trying to figure where she's gone off to, only to find himself face to face with her partner from Beyond Paradise, Kris Marshall. One assumes hilarity, plus cameos by the Beyond Paradise and Not Going Out supporting casts, will ensue.

Red Nose Day will air and stream on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on Friday, March 21; Beyond Paradise Season 3 will debut one week later, on Friday, March 28, 2025. Red Nose Day sketches will be available on YouTube for American viewers to check out the day they air; Beyond Paradise Season 3 is expected to premiere in the U.S. on BritBox in April 2025.
