‘The Time of the Doctor’: Get Details on the ‘Doctor Who’ Christmas Special
The first details surrounding Smith’s swan song were released by the BBC this week, and, if the title is anything to go by, seems to be drawing a lot of threads together as the Eleventh Doctor’s story draws to a close. The Christmas special will be titled The Time of the Doctor and the first bit of official artwork has been released.
The BBC synopsis of the episode goes like this:
“Orbiting a quiet backwater planet, the massed forces of the universe’s deadliest species gather, drawn to a mysterious message that echoes out to the stars. And amongst them – the Doctor. Rescuing Clara from a family Christmas dinner, the Time Lord and his best friend must learn what this enigmatic signal means for his own fate and that of the universe.”
So far, only a very brief teaser trailer for the holiday episode been released and, well, in true Steven Moffat fashion, it reveals very little. We hear that the Doctor seems to have found Trenzalore, we see snapshots of virtually every monster Eleven has faced, including the Daleks, the Cybermen , the Weeping Angels, and, most notably, the Silence, whom we haven’t seen since the whole “Silence Will Fall” business back in Series 6, which we still don’t fully understand.

And there’s still the little matter of Peter Capaldi, and how the Twelfth Doctor will be introduced. Anyone got any theories?
