Suranne Jones' 'MaryLand' Will Debut on PBS in 2024

Suranne Jones’ first effort at penning her own series has landed an American debut. MaryLand, a family drama about two sisters reunited over the death of their mother, Mary, will officially come to PBS in 2024 as part of the Masterpiece spring lineup. The long-running British anthology series announced today that Jones’ debut effort, in which she also stars, will directly follow Nolly, which was previously announced to debut on March 17, 2023. Nolly, which only runs three installments, will conclude on Sunday, March 31, 2023, and MaryLand will debut the following Sunday, April 7, 2023, at 9 p.m. ET.

When it aired in the UK, television critics praised the series, with The Independent calling it “a moving portrait of sisterhood.” As we noted when the series moved from streaming on ITVX to airing on ITV linear, MaryLand was rapidly turning into a sleeper hit, with viewership picking up via word of mouth. Masterpiece’s Executive Producer, Susanne Simpson, also said in a statement, “MaryLand is an emotional journey of two estranged sisters who are determined to find the truth about their mother. Suranne Jones and Eve Best deliver stunning performances in this wonderful show.”

Along with the announcement it had picked up the series, Masterpiece also released a first-look trailer. Check it out:
