Additional casting has been announced for the upcoming Starz drama The Couple Next Door, a psychological thriller that aims to explore the dark corners of modern-day marriage and life in suburbia by way of a story about hypercompetitive attractive people obsessed with what others think of them. (And who all seem to be incapable of appreciating their own good fortune.)

Starz already announced the main quartet of performers attached to the series, tapping Outlander star Sam Heughan and Poldark alum Eleanor Tomlinson to lead the cast alongside Alfred Enoch (Foundation) and Jessica De Gouw (Underground). Now Hugh Dennis (Fleabag) and Kate Robbins (Unforgotten) have officially moved into the neighborhood to join them.

Loosely adapted from the Dutch series New Neighbours, the series follows the story of Evie (Tomlinson) and Pete (Enoch), a couple who move into an upscale neighborhood full of nosy neighbors, status seekers, and unexpected pressures to keep up appearances with those around them. The pair finds unexpected friendship in the form of the couple next door, a traffic cop named Danny (Heughan), and his glamourous yoga instructor wife, Becka (De Gouw). All seems well until Evie and Danny share a passionate night with one another, an event that causes their lives to become entangled in a way that will change everything for both couples.

Dennis will play nosy neighbor Alan Richardson, while Robbins is his wife Jean, who doesn't know that her husband has taken to using a telescope to spy on the couple across the way. But when she learns he's been watching Becka for his own personal gratification, Jean is able to take delicious revenge on her peeping tom husband when he starts to take things to a new level.

Directed by Dries Vos (Suspect) and written by David Allison (Marcella), the six-part series is described as an addictive, emotional roller coaster that looks at how we can never truly know what goes on behind the closed doors of other people. Jo McGrathWalter Iuzzolino, and Alison Kee serve as executive producers and the producer is Jen Burnet

The Couple Next Door is produced by Eagle Eye Drama, the company behind the English language remakes of Professor T and Before We Die, and the lavish period drama Hotel Portofino. It is distributed worldwide by Beta Film.

The series wrapped filming in Leeds and Belgium earlier this summer, and it will premiere on Channel 4 this Fall in the U.K. and on STARZ at some point in 2024 in the U.S. and Canada.
