Alexa Crowe Reintroduces Herself in the 'My Life Is Murder' Season 4 Trailer
Lucy Lawless is back as Alexa Crowe, the fearless and unapologetic investigator who stars in the New Zealand-set mystery series My Life Is Murder. And this time, the trailer makes it clear she's bound and determined that everyone will know her name by the end of the two-minute clip. No more of this "You know, the detective series on Acorn with Xena."
My Life Is Murder may sound like a bit of a bloodbath, or at least one that's full of sticky situations, and more death than you can shake a stick at, but it's actually one of Acorn TV's most delightful cozy crime series, former warrior princess detective notwithstanding. Lawless clearly relishes the chance to do something that's fun and frothy, and Crowe's crazy life, which is split between baking, solving crimes, and cuddling her best orange cat Chowder, is nothing if not a role to have some fun playing. The cases are also just this side of the ridiculously sublime, with this new season featuring a slew of puzzling cases ranging from homicidal hairdressers to wicked widows and brutal ballet to deadly soufflés. (I assume it doesn't really souff, it just kind of lays... until you get too close, and then it's omelet city for everyone.)
Acorn TV released the official trailer for the fourth season along with brand new images from the upcoming episodes, many of which feature the true star of the show, the small orange fuzzy feline who does not understand why he is not being fed. Oh, and Lawless is in a few of them, too.
Here is the full Season 4 synopsis:
Eight new mysteries. Eight new worlds. Eight diabolical killers that only Alexa Crowe can catch. But this time, Alexa is bringing her friends and family along for the ride: Tech guru Madison is stepping up, contributing her considerable technical skills to Alexa's investigations, and the two of them have fallen into a comfortable mentor-mentee relationship. However, neither of them will ever agree on who is the mentor and who is the student. Cafe owner Reuben is stepping in. Brother Will is staying close. Detective Harry has her back, and cranky cat Chowder can’t help complicating everything.
Emboldened by the changes in her life, ready to revisit demons of the past, and excited to embrace her future, this year Alexa is even more of a force, determined to reveal the most carefully hidden secrets that crack the most bewildering cases. And, somehow, she and her fabulous whanau (chosen family) still have a bunch of fun along the way. Let the Auckland adventures begin again…
