‘Inspector Morse’ Prequel ‘Endeavour’ Has Already Been Renewed for a Fourth Season
Huzzah for mystery fans – Inspector Morse prequel series Endeavour has been officially renewed for a fourth season!
Shaun Evans and Roger Allam will once again return as young Endeavour Morse and his partner Detective Inspector Fred Thursday. The new fourth season will be set in 1967 and is due into go into production on location in Oxford in late Spring 2016. Endeavour creator and Morse writer Russell Lewis will once again be writing the scripts.
There’s no official announcement of how many episodes will be in Season 4, but a safe guess is probably four, since that’s how many are in each of the previous three seasons.
“It’s a privilege to revisit Oxford in 1967 to savour Russell Lewis’ impeccably crafted and multi-layered scripts and enjoy the dream team partnership of Shaun Evans and Roger Allam as DC Morse and DI Thursday,” said Damien Timmer from producer Mammoth Screen. “The series is enjoyed by fans the world over and this next chapter of the Endeavour Morse story will keep viewers everywhere on the edge of their seats!”
Endeavour just wrapped its third season run in the UK, with a consolidated average of 6.3 million viewers per episode. The drama will likely make its way to the US on Masterpiece this summer, if previous history is any indication.
