For those of you who have not looked at the February calendar for 2024 yet, let me be the first to remind you that this is a leap year. Not that one extra day in February does much for television programming other than give those who need to schedule it a headache. With February being the shortest month, historically, it is one of the lightest when it comes to new releases, especially in the last decade, ever since Downton Abbey made Sundays in January the big debut nights for PBS British shows.

For PBS, Sunday nights are already full, with Miss Scarlet & the Duke and Funny Woman running through the middle of the month and All Creatures Great & Small running a week longer with the Christmas special tacked on as a finale. All three series dropped their full seasons on PBS passport streaming for members when the seasons began back at the beginning of January, but for those who do not subscribe (or who get their PBS through Amazon's Masterpiece Channel), the episode rollout will continue weekly through February.

With February being a short month and pledge drives kicking into gear for many local stations nationwide, most major premieres on PBS won't arrive until March. That means nearly everything British will be PBS Passport-centric, with lots of Walter Presents arrivals. What shows do land on PBS Passport from the BBC will hold their linear premieres until next month, so prepare to check your local listings carefully. Here's everything British coming to streaming for PBS for February.

'Sisi: Austrian Empress' (Sisi) Season 2

It's been a full year since the 2021 series about Elisabeth of Austria, Sisi: Austrian Empress (Sisi) Season 1 debuted on PBS Passport in February 2023. (Not to be confused with The Empress (Maria Theresia), which was also released in 2021, or Netflix's 2022 series The Empress, also about Elisabeth of Austria, which is also expected to release a second season in 2024.) Season 2 of the German series, which aired in 2022, returns with war looming as Sisi (Dominique Devenport) has an unexpected reunion with Count Andrassy (Giovanni Funiati), which could jeopardize everything she's built. including her empire and her marriage. Season 3 just aired in Germany in December 2023, so expect more episodes next year.

All six episodes of Sisi: Austrian Empress Season 2 arrive on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Channel on Friday, February 2, 2024.

'Love & Sacrifice' (Sacrificio de Amor) Season 4

So it took a whole lot of digging on my part to figure out where I went wrong on Love & Sacrifice (Sacrificio de Amor). The series only lasted two seasons in Italy, and a set of episodes labeled Season 1 arrived in April 2023, and Season 2 followed in June. But then Season 3 turned up in November 2023, and after doing some episode math, I realized the "two seasons" I'd found were 22 episodes all told, and with Season 1 having 12 and Season 2 having 10, Season 3's 12 would be the final set. But mea culpa! My research was incorrect. I did not take into account episode length these installments originally ran between 80-140 minutes. So we still have more to go as the war rages and Brando is stuck under Corrado’s command.

All ten episodes of Love & Sacrifice (Sacrificio de Amor) Season 4 arrive on PBS Passport and the Masterpiece Channel on Friday, February 9, 2024.

'Call The Midwife' Season 13

While Call The Midwife Season 13 won't debut on linear, the PBS App (or on the PBS Masterpiece Channel) until Sunday, March 17, those PBS members who have contributed to their local stations and have PBS Passport as a member benefit will have early access to the new season a month ahead of everyone else. As this is a special early access drop, it won't be a binge but a weekly rollout release so that when the series starts in March, members can stay a month ahead, watching new episodes before everyone else.

Call The Midwife Season 13's early access streaming starts on Friday, February 16, 2024, with one episode a week through the beginning of April.

'All Heart' (Cuori) Season 2

It hasn't been quite a full year since the debut of All Heart (Cuori) Season 1 in March 2023. The 1960s period drama about the first successful heart transplant in history is mixed with a romantic love triangle between Cesare Corvara, the head physician, his wife, Delia Brunello, and her ex-boyfriend Alberto Ferraris in this Italian drama. Season 2 was in production at the time PBS Passport debuted Season 1, and it aired on RAI in October 2023. No word on Season 3 as yet, but Season 2 was a massive ratings hit in Italy, so here's hoping.

All eight episodes of All Heart Season 2 arrive on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Channel on Friday, February 16, 2024.

'In Flanders Field'

The third and final arrival for the middle of February is the Dutch miniseries In Flanders Field. This period piece drama of the Boesman family's attempt to survive in the city of Ghent during the Great War has already been streaming on the PBS Masterpiece Channel; however, this is its official debut for PBS Passport members who may not have seen it before. The ten-episode series focuses on each of the five family members’ different experiences in turn, and how they separately and collectively find ways to survive.

All ten episodes of In Flanders Field arrive on PBS Passport for members on Friday, February 16, 2024.

'A Familiar Stranger' (L'Absente)

The French miniseries A Familiar Stranger (L'Absente) rounds out the Walter Presents offering for February. (IMDb has a second season listed, but some poking turned that up as an error, as far as I could tell.) This mystery begins with a young girl, struck down on the side of the road, who wakes in the hospital with no idea who she is. Police believe she may be Marina Masson, missing these past 11 years, and her family are thrilled. But not everyone is prepared to believe in miracles, and soon there's a fight over her identity.

All eight episodes of A Familiar Stranger arrive on PBS Passport and the PBS Masterpiece Channel on Friday, February 23, 2024.

'Mary Berry Makes It Easy'

Mary Berry has been a big hit for PBS these last two Christmases with her holiday specials, so now her latest cooking series is coming to PBS to see if fans of The Great British Baking Show miss her so much they'll tune in to watch her with British celebrities they've barely heard of. Well, that's not totally fair; Mary Berry Makes It Easy tries to make it easy for PBS viewers to get into the spirit of things by bringing back at least one other Baking Show face to cook with Mary Berry, Mel Giedroyc, making this officially a Baking Show reunion, at least for one installment.

All six episodes of Mary Berry Makes It Easy will stream on PBS Passport on Saturday, February 24, 2024.
