Even More 'Doctor Who' Goodies: Watch a 50th Anniversary Behind the Scenes Clip and a Christmas Special Teaser
Even after we got a whale of an episode for the 50th already, the fun doesn’t stop there. There’s a new behind-the-scenes clip and a deleted scene from the anniversary special itself, as well as our first (incredibly brief) look at the upcoming 2013 Christmas special – also known as the episode where Matt Smith hangs up his sonic screwdriver and we say goodbye to the Eleventh Doctor.
Basically, this is a really good week to be a Doctor Who fan.
Just in case you need just one more snippet from the anniversary special, here’s a tiny deleted scene featuring Smith, Tennant and Smith, who honestly should just get their own comedy special, don’t you think?
Yeah, yeah, we know. That clip was ridiculously brief. But, if you need even more 50th anniversary goodness, try this behind-the-scenes called Doctor Who: Behind the Lens, which was shown behind the theatrical simulcasts of The Day of the Doctor in movie theaters around the country and documents the making of the 50th anniversary special an. The featurette is narrated by Sixth Doctor, Colin Baker, and features appearances by Steven Moffat, Matt Smith, Jenna Coleman, Billie Piper, John Hurt, Jemma Redgrave, Joanna Page, David Tennant and more. It’s a lovely look back at the creation of this important bit of Who history and well worth a watch if you’re a fan:
The first Christmas special teaser trailer as also arrived – and it basically gives new meaning to the word “teaser”. (The BBC is really good at that, I don’t know if you guys have noticed this lately with all the Sherlock trailers and whatnot.) This clip reveals little – we hear that the Doctor seems to have found Trenzalore, we see snapshots of virtually every monster Eleven has faced, including the Daleks, the Cybermen, the Weeping Angels, and, most notably, the Silence, whom we haven’t seen since the whole “Silence Will Fall” business back in Series 6, which will still don’t fully understand. Looks like we’ll finally be getting some answers.
What do you think will happen in the Christmas special? Start spinning your theories now!
