Could Peter Jackson Direct An Episode of ‘Doctor Who’? Maybe.
Could the next project for acclaimed Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit director Peter Jackson be Doctor Who?
It suddenly seems kind of possible; at least if the new video Jackson has uploaded to his Facebook page is any indication. Sort of. Maybe. We hope.
The clip features the Academy Award-winning director and his daughter receiving some unexpected visitors in their home in New Zealand and it is, all things considered, one of the best things I’ve seen in quite some time.
Watch the amazingness for yourself below:
Jackson is a well-known Doctor Who fan – he actually owns one of Sylvester McCoy’s Seventh Doctor costumes and has it on display in his house – and rumors have been going around for ages that he was finally going to direct an episode of the show now that he’s run out of Middle Earth-related properties to adapt. (Sorry, folks, we all know that no matter how much we might want it, Jackson’s probably never going to get the rights to do The Silmarillion. Sigh.)
Plus, I feel like you don’t let the Doctor and a Dalek into your house to record a video for a job you aren’t planning to take, yeah? Even if Peter Capaldi gets run off before Jackson can actually sign the contract.
Knowing Jackson’s style, let’s hope his future episode is at least a two-parter.
Thoughts?
