The Trailer for Apple TV+'s 'Bad Sisters' Is a Wickedly Good Time

Eve Hewson, Sharon Horgan, Anne-Marie Duff, Eva Birthistle and Sarah Greene in Bad Sisters

There's nothing quite like the bond of family, which, as we've seen repeatedly on television over the past few years, can drive you to do almost anything. Even possibly murder. This is the question at the heart of Bad Sisters, the upcoming dark comedy thriller from Apple TV+ that sees five siblings become suspects after a mysterious death.

Created and developed by Emmy nominee Sharon Horgan (Catastrophe), the series is technically a remake of Malin-Sarah Gozin's Belgian series Clan. The ten-episode series follows the sisters of the Garvey clan, who come together to decide what to do about their eldest sister's cruel husband, whom they all refer to in private as "The Prick." His controlling, misogynist ways have given them plenty of reason to hate him, and each member of the family has their own reasons for wanting to get rid of him for good. But when he turns up dead, the sisters find themselves under investigation by a pair of desperate life insurance agents determined to prove malicious intent so that they can avoid a large payout.

How did John Paul die? And, more importantly, who killed him? Those are the questions Bad Sisters sets out to answer in a story told across two timelines and peppered with dark, sharp-edged humor. Watch the trailer for yourselves below.

The five Garvey sisters are played by Horgan, Anne-Marie Duff (Sex Education), Eva Birthistle (The Last Kingdom), Sarah Greene (Normal People), and Eve Hewson (The Knick). Claes Bang (The Outlaws) plays Grace's abusive husband, John. Other familiar faces in the cast include Brian Gleeson (Peaky Blinders), Daryl McCormack (The Wheel of Time), Assaad Bouab (The Pursuit of Love), and Saise Quinn (Monster).

The series logline reads as follows.

The tight-knit Garvey sisters have always looked out for each other. When their brother-in-law winds up dead, his life insurers launch an investigation to prove malicious intent—and set their sights on the sisters, all of whom had ample reason to kill him.

The first two episodes of Bad Sisters drop Friday, August 19, on Apple TV+, with weekly releases to follow.
