With 20 Emmy nominations for its first season, Ted Lasso returns flying high for Season 2. Fans are ready to watch the team of AFC Richmond once again attempt to win against all odds. (The 2020 Euros loss by the U.K. team is merely a real-life accidental promotion Apple's money couldn't buy.) They're also ready for more of Ted Lasso and owner Rebecca Welton's oddly compelling relationship. The two will begin on new ground this season after Rebecca's change of heart, going from evil team owner pushing Lasso to lose to a true believer in his gentle style.

Rebecca's journey was Season 1's secret weapon, with actor Hannah Waddingham creating a beautiful three-dimensional portrait of a woman trying to work her way through the anger of divorce and towards a better, happier life. Her relationship with Lasso and realizing that toxic masculinity isn't the key to a successful life is one of the first season's best arcs. But those who thought Ted Lasso would go directly to a will-they-or-won't-they for Ted and Rebecca are in for a surprise. The first clip from Season 2 reveals that Rebecca has moved on from her divorce and is re-entering the dating pool, and Ted isn't even on her radar.

Instead, Rebecca's got an all-new beau, and Keeley is here to be her support system, while Ted is left in the dust of girl talk.

So who is this new man in Rebecca's world, and will Keeley and Roy Kent be the honest opinions she needs as she tries to restart her love life? Somehow, it seems like, just from her fluttering over his texts, that this might not be the relationship she needs.

Ted Lasso Season 1 made Emmy history earlier this month as the most nominated freshman comedy series ever, including nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series; Outstanding Lead Actor for Jason Sudeikis; two nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress for Hannah Waddingham and Juno Temple; four nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor for Brendan Hunt, Brett Goldstein, Jeremy Swift, and Nick Mohammed; and three nominations for Outstanding Directing and two for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.

Most of the cast from Ted Lasso's first season is expected to return for Season 2. Along with the aformentioned nominated cast, Phil Dunster will also be back as Jamie Tartt, Cristo Fernández as Dani Rojas, and Toheeb Jimoh as Sam Obisanya. Sarah Niles joins Season 2 as Sharon, the new team doctor and sports psychologist hired to help the team overcome their unprecedented seven-game tie-streak in the show's premiere.

Ted Lasso Season 1 premiered binge-watch style all at once on Apple TV+ in 2020. Season 2 will shift to a weekly premiere schedule with a debut on July 23, followed by a new episode dropping every Friday.
