Amazing Internet Things: Wishbone Dons a Deerstalker in Adaptation of ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’

What's the story, Wishbone?
What's the story, Wishbone?
For many people, the long wait between seasons of popular mystery series Sherlock has turned us all into embarrassingly rabid Holmes fans, eager for any scrap of the great detective that we haven’t seen yet, by any actor, in any form. Yes, kids, this is what obsession looks like. But at least the source material is actually literature, so you know, it could be worse, right?

However, in your quest to consume every snippet of available Sherlockiana in any medium in which it exists, here’s something you probably missed. Unless, of course, you’re old enough to remember a certain children’s show about a dog that had aspirations of being the star of stories from classic literature and saw this clip the first time around.

Yes, we’re talking about Wishbone. Yes, Wishbone did a Sherlock Holmes story. And yes, you can watch it below thanks to the magic of YouTube.

(Basically, it seems appropriate to say that the internet exists for posts like this.)

Wishbone tackled the works of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle with a take on (what else?) his dog-oriented classic The Hound of the Baskervilles, just without the spooky windswept moors. In The Slobbery Hound, when Wishbone is blamed for neighborhood messes, he – along with friends Joe, David and Sam – must find the dog who is the real culprit. And so the deductions begin.

Thanks to a fantastic YouTuber named 90sProject, you can watch this classic episode for yourself online.

Part Two:

Sadly,The Slobbery Hound does not appear to be one of the Wishbone episodes that you can purchase anymore, which is a tremendous shame because I would absolutely buy this and force everyone I know who has children to get them to watch it. (Okay and probably some people who don't have kids to watch it as well...but, I mean, hello, it's literature!) It's adorable! Wonder where we could start a re-release petition?
