Amazing Internet Things: What if Sherlock Were an Animated Series?

survivetillseries3.jpg
Now that the Endless Sherlock Hiatus is upon us, it’s time to start stockpiling random fun and/or interesting things to keep us all occupied until Series 3. So, bless the internet for constantly providing gems like this creative bit of genius and I hope you guys are ready to watch me work out my separation issues through application of interesting and/or funny videos. (I’m already twitchy with waiting, and we’ve got a loooong way to go still.)

Anyway, in case you’ve ever wondered what Sherlock might look like as a cartoon, well, now you have an answer. And one that’s way, way better looking than that creepy cartoon where John Watson was a robot even if it is less than a minute long. (See, guys, I did finally find out the answer from my query on this subject ages ago!)

Some industrious fan has created an animated opening credits sequence for Sherlock that imagines the cast as fairly amazing Japanese anime characters, complete with voiceovers and Sherlock’s dramatic coat swooshing about.

Click through and have a look for yourself – it’s brief, but the cartoon will probably leave you wishing that we could see a little bit more of it. (Animated!John Watson is adorable!)

You know, if the BBC is thinking about ways to keep us happy during these extended season breaks, I’d watch the heck out of a cartoon like this. I’m just saying. If they need some ideas.

How about you all? (Man, I wish I could draw anything more complicated than stick figures!)

Lacy's love of British TV is embarrassingly extensive, but primarily centers around evangelizing all things Doctor Who, and watching as many period dramas as possible.

Digital media type by day, she also has a fairly useless degree in British medieval literature, and dearly loves to talk about dream poetry, liminality, and the medieval religious vision. (Sadly, that opportunity presents itself very infrequently.) York apologist, Ninth Doctor enthusiast, and unabashed Ravenclaw. Say hi on Threads or Blue Sky at @LacyMB.
