Welcome to Wrexham Season 3 has just crossed the halfway mark of a much shorter third season (eight episodes, down from the dozen and half or so of the first two seasons), but fans have no worries about there being more. Even before Season 3 arrived, the Wrexham team clinched its second promotion in two years, practically guaranteeing a fourth season. FX confirmed the new season was officially greenlit during Disney’s upfront presentations, all but promising that the next season would return in the show’s new position as a late spring debut.

The promotion to the English Football League’s League 1, coming on the heels of last year’s to League 2, is a remarkable turnaround for the Red Dragons, who were on their 15 seasons in the National League, the lowest of England’s five professional football divisions, in 2020, when owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny purchased the team. Of course, when the two celebrities came to town, the dream was that this would be the outcome. However, the documented journey along the way has been nothing short of remarkable.

Wrexham is now one of the best-known EFL teams in the world despite being a mid-table team in the third division. Season 4 will be a whole new ballgame, if you’ll pardon the pun, as every team who has spent years kicking butt in League 1 and above and yet find themselves obscure in comparison to these underdogs, will have it out for the fan favorite.

The men's team isn't the only one scoring hard and rising higher. The Wrexham AFC’s Women’s Team is fresh off an undefeated season that saw them promoted to the Welsh Adran Premier League. The only question iss how long until FX decides they're worthy of their own spinoff series.

As part of the show's renewal, Nick Grad, president of FX Entertainment, said, “Wrexham AFC has exceeded all expectations on the pitch and with fans, scoring back-to-back promotions under the leadership of Rob and Ryan and rising to compete in League One next season. Welcome to Wrexham is scoring big too, winning five Emmy Awards and a fourth season that will continue to document the team’s remarkable journey and its impact on the Wrexham community and growing legion of fans worldwide.”

McElhenney and Reynolds continue to star in the series, along with the current player roster. The two also executive produce the series along with Josh Drisko, Bryan Rowland, Jeff Luini, Humphrey Ker, Nick Frenkel, George Dewey, and Boardwalk Pictures’ Andrew Fried, Dane Lillegard, Sarina Roma, and Andy Thomas. More Better Productions, Maximum Effort Productions, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Boardwalk Pictures produce.

Welcome to Wrexham Season 3 continues with new episodes every Thursday on FX and streaming the next day on Hulu. Season 4 will arrive in 2025.
