The mystery of whether we'd see more of the newly reimagined MIss Scarlet has been swiftly solved. Just days after its Season 5 finale, Masterpiece has announced that the drama has officially been renewed for a sixth outing, with production set to begin this month in Belgrade, Serbia.

Obviously, this means Kate Phillips (Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the LIght) will be back to play Eliza Scarlet, alongside Tom Durant Pritchard (This is Going to Hurt) as her new partner DI Alexander Blake. As the once-fraught relationship between the two continues to evolve, they discover that working together may be a tricky prospect. Given that the last scene of Season 5 sure felt like a date, it's easy to wonder whether the new episodes will just bypass the will they/won't they stuff entirely and just jump straight into a relationship. Eliza/Blake has been proceeding at warp speed when compared to the snail's pace of Eliza/William, so it wouldn't be all that surprising, if you ask me.

Elsewhere, newlyweds Ivy and Potts adjust to married life, a new detective settles in at Scotland Yard, and Nash causes chaos, even from across the globe. Season 6 will also finally see the greatly anticipated return of Moses Valentine, who swoops in to help Eliza and her crew, just when they need him most.

“What a joy to be back with Miss Scarlet for a sixth season," Masterpiece Head of Scripted Content and Executive Producer Susanne Simpson said in a statement. "We are delighted to be able to bring fans more of Eliza, Inspector Blake, and the amazing group of ensemble characters that make this show the hit that it is.”

Alongside Phillips and Durant Pritchard, the returning cast for Season 6 also includes Cathy Belton (The Hardacres) as Ivy, Paul Bazely (Such Brave Girls) as Clarence, Simon Ludders (Winter Palace) as Mr. Potts, Tim Chipping as Detective Phelps, and Ansu Kabia (The Sandman) as Moses. Also joining the cast this season are Sam Buchanan (Sherwood) as the new, young Detective George Willows who joins Scotland Yard after rising through the police ranks and Grace Hogg-Robinson (There She Goes) as Isabel Summers, an ambitious young woman who joins the Clerical Office alongside Ivy.

"Season six brings exciting twists, new faces, and the return of beloved characters—including the much-anticipated comeback of Moses Valentine," executive producer Patty Lenahan Ishmoto said. "We’re thrilled to continue Eliza Scarlet’s journey and deeply grateful to Masterpiece PBS and UKTV for their unwavering support in bringing the series to our dedicated fans.

Miss Scarlet is written by series creator Rachael New and co-written by Ben Edwards. New will split directing duties with Ivan Zivkovic. New, Edwards, Simpson, and Ishmoto also serve as executive producers, along with Harvey Myman, Jin Ishimoto, and Patrick Irwin. The Irish co-producer is Jim Duggan. Funding for Masterpiece is provided by Serbian co-producer Anđelija Vlaisavljević and the Senior Series Producer for Masterpiece is Erin Delaney. Miss Scarlet is a co-production of Miss Scarlet Limited and Masterpiece in association with PBS and Other Mans Shoes with production services provided by WiP and pre-investment from UKTV.
