'I, Jack Wright' Will Be Introduced in America in April

The success of Unforgotten was far from assured when writer Chris Lang first penned the cold case series in 2015 after spending two decades mostly writing on ITV shows created by other people. Though the success of the series keeps building despite significant casting turnover, Lang has yet to replicate the success. His "Unforgotten but Set It In the Courtroom" series, Innocent, only managed to last two series; The Thief, His Wife & the Canoe made zero impact in the U.S., and Poikani Joel never even crossed the pond. But his latest, I, Jack Wright, is one of BritBox's three big debuts in April 2025, and those who agreed to star suggest the script for this hit a nerve the way Unforgotten's first season did.

I, Jack Wright may also be far more successful than, say, The Thief/Wife/Canoe series, as BritBox International's footprint has grown exponentially in the last year, going from 3.75 million subscribers across the eight countries where it is offered to over 4 million, much of which came from the U.S. and Canada. BritBox has also stopped putting out their higher profile series as binges and returned to the tried-and-trued weekly release format to let attention and marketing have time to build an audience.

It's also been very strategic about what shows it's releasing and when. I, Jack Wright arrives on the heels of BritBox's high-profile yearly Agatha Christie adaptation, which for 2025 is the Matthew Rhys/Anjelica Houston starring Towards Zero, and the day after the Season 3 debut of one of the few comedies to make any headway in the U.S., The Cleaner. That means BritBox has a mystery, a comedy, and a drama, all streaming in April.
