'The Change' Season 2's Trailer Shows Linda Isn't Ready to Go Home

I don't know about the rest of the world, but I did not hear the word "peri-menopause" until I was already north of 35; since crossing the invisible boundary into early cronehood, all of these symptoms no one ever bothered to mention suddenly started showing up. I'm not talking about hot flashes (or hot flushes as they're called in the U.K.); I'm talking about everything else that comes with what doctors refer to as "The Great Change." That's probably why I sat down to watch comedian Bridget Christie's 2023 series The Change when it arrived on BritBox, and it's why Season 2 is one of the highly-anticipated returning shows of 2025.

Season 1 of The Change starts somewhere somewhat reasonable: Linda, recently 50, thinks she may be having an existential crisis and early onset dementia... but no, her doctor tells her it's just menopause. As a reasonable human being living in the 21st century, Linda naturally decides to take the most sensible option. She hops on her Triumph motorbike and drives cross country to the Forest of Dean, where she chooses to walk away from modern life and join the Eel Sisters in their coven-like cult. She then lies her way to the top, becoming Eel Queen, before her unstable house of cards collapses.

(Listen, if you'd had a hot flash, you'd think running away to live in the forest as an Eel Sister is not the worst life choice.)

Season 2 is now around the corner, with a U.K. release date and, even better, a trailer.

Here's the Season 2 synopsis.

At the start of series two, Linda has got some explaining to do. Faced with the repercussions of the lies she’s told the forest community, along with losing the Mother Tree, and the arrival of husband Steve who has come to bring her home, Linda's future in the forest looks uncertain. But she’s already come a long way since being mother/wife/homemaker Linda Jane Jenkins of Swindon, and her journey is far from over.  She may have only been Eel Queen for a day, but something’s changed in Linda which means she’s not done yet – in fact she’s only just started. But little does she realise what a huge impact this decision will have on the town…and Steve.

Christie co-stars alongside Omid Djalili (His Dark Materials) as Linda's husband, Steve; Liza Tarbuck (Silent Witness) as Linda's older sister Siobhan; Paul Whitehouse (Why Didn't They Ask Evans?) as Tony; Susan Lynch (Happy Valley) as Eel Sister Agnes; Jerome Flynn (Game of Thrones) as Pig Man; Tanya Moody (Rain Dogs) as DJ Joy; ad Jim Howick (Here We Go) as The Verderer. Season 2 additions include The Day of the Jackal's Laura Checkley, who will feature as Eel Sister Theresa.

Series creator Christie penned all episodes of Season 2; director Morwenna Gordon helmed all installments, with Lisa Mitchell producing. Christie and Gordon also executive produce alongside Nerys Evans

The Change Season 2 will premiere in the U.K. on Channel 4 on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. It is expected to follow on BritBox this summer.
