The 'Picture This' Trailer Is Picture Perfect

Simone Ashley stars in 'Picture This'
Amazon Studios
We first caught wind of Picture This, the romcom starring Bridgerton's Simone Ashley and Young Sherlock's Hero Fiennes Tiffen, just under a year ago in the spring of 2024. At the time, filming on the Prime Video movie, which was planned as a straight-to-streaming release, had concluded, and Ashley had mentioned in an interview that she expected out in 2024. But Amazon apparently had other ideas, and the year ended with the romantic comedy still in limbo. Valentine's Day came and went, and there was still no word on the rom-com, which seemed to have gone AWOL. However, finally, Picture This has not only released a trailer but announced Amazon Studios has finally assigned it a March release date, with the film arriving straight to streaming close to the start of the month.
Unlike Bridgerton, which shot Ashley to worldwide fame, or Young Sherlock, which will see Fiennes Tiffen play the titular sleuth in his 1850s era college years, Picture This is a contemporary-set film, allowing both actors to wear regular clothes and 21st-century hairstyles in 2020s era London. However, the story is timeless enough that it could have been set at any time in the last 100 years. Ashley will star as Pia, a down-on-her-luck career-focused singleton watching her siblings marry one after the other. After yet another wedding, she vows to find a mate in the next few dates, no matter what.
Naturally, Fiennes Tiffin is one of those dates... or at least the one she ends up marrying. (Listen, it’s a romantic comedy, but that’s not a spoiler; that’s a fact. A romance that does not have a happily ever after is not a romance. Come fight me.)
The official synopsis reads:
Single and without a man on the horizon, Pia runs a failing photography studio in London with her best friend Jay. As her sister Sonal prepares to get married and her mother Laxmi urges the resolutely independent Pia to partner up, a spiritual guru at Sonal’s engagement party predicts Pia will meet the love of her life among the next five dates she goes on. As her family intervenes, setting her up on a series of increasingly desperate blind dates, Pia begins a hilarious but heartfelt quest for real love.
Ashley and Fiennes Tiffen co-star in the film alongside a supporting cast that includes Phil Dunster (Ted Lasso), Nikesh Patel (Starstruck), Sindhu Vee (Matilda: The Musical), Luke Fetherston (Still Up), Adil Ray (Citizen Khan), Anoushka Chadha (You), and Kulvinder Ghir (Bend It Like Beckham).
Written by Nikita Lalwani, Picture This is based on the Australian Original movie Five Blind Dates, written by Shaung Hu and Nathan Ramos-Park. Director Prarthana Mohan (The Miseducation of Bindu) helmed the film. The UK movie update is produced by 42’s Ben Pugh and Erica Steinberg, with 42’s Josh Horsfield and Kari Hatfield serving as executive producers.
Picture This will premiere on Prime Video on Friday, March 6, 2025.
