Take a Look Behind the Scenes of Julian Fellowes’ Titanic Mini-Series!

If you’re hoping for a period drama fix during Downton Abbey’s hiatus, you’re probably looking forward to Downton creator Julian Fellowes upcoming Titanic mini-series. It’s pretty much looking a lot like Downton: The "I’m on a Boat!" Edition, so I’m into it on basic principle.

Titanic is airing on ABC in April here in the States, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the ship’s sinking. The cast is top-notch, featuring Linus Roache, Toby Jones, Geraldine Somerville, Timothy West, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Sophie Winkleman, Celia Imrie and more.

Click through for a behind-the-scenes clip that introduces us to some of the series’ cast and gives us a feel for the scale of the show.  As an extra bonus for those of you who are interested, you can also watch a second Titanic trailer, which provides a much better look at characters and plots and is just generally all around awesome.

There appear to be a ton of characters, from first class to steerage passengers, and multiple storylines to focus on – which feels very promising and also very Downton-esque. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what Fellowes does with a story that we all probably feel like we’ve seen twenty times before. (I can’t be the only one that thought I’ll never let go, Jack! at some point while contemplating this series, can I?)

The little “The Truth Will Surface” mini-promo at the very end of the BTS piece is gorgeous and actually kind of haunting. So, if that’s the tone they’re going for with this series, I think it’s going to be quite good.
