Witchy BBC Three supernatural drama Domino Day will make its way to America this month on Sundance Now and AMC+. The series, which is being rebranded Domino Day: Lone Witch for its U.S. debut in order to give audiences a more immediate understanding of what the show is about, will premiere this June and joins a long line of supernatural dramas that use their otherworldly premises to explore all too familiar real-world problems.

Following in the footsteps of other popular BBC Three series such as Being Human and In the Flesh, Domino Day is technically a story about a young witch discovering and learning to control her powers. But it is also a story about a young woman who must learn to navigate hostile and overly patriarchal spaces,

One part metaphor for the modern dating scene and one part coming-of-age drama, the Manchester-set series follows the story of the eponymous Domino, a young woman who spends all her time on dating apps. But she's not swiping right looking for a soulmate or even a hook-up to pass the time. No, she's on the hunt...to hunt. Literally.

Gifted with a power she doesn't fully understand, Domino needs to feed off the energy of others to survive. The process is both dangerous and unpleasant, so Domino purposefully deploys her ability solely against terrible men. Yes, she swipes right on the dangerous, the violent, the sleazy, the sexist, the unfaithful, and the general dirtbags of Manchester who deserve to finally face some consequences for their actions.

Unbeknownst to her, however, her behavior has caught the eye of a local witch coven, which has identified her as one of their own and been tracking her movements, worried that uncontrolled power could pose a risk to them all.

Here's the series' synopsis.

This supernatural drama follows Domino Day, a powerful young witch with a dark secret – she has to feed on the energy of humans to survive. What she doesn’t know is that a coven of witches is already tracking her every move, convinced they have to stop her before her powers destroy everyone and everything around her. When a dangerous figure from Domino’s past comes back to haunt her, will it be a fresh start for them all … or a final showdown?

Alongside Kelly, the series ensemble cast includes Babirye Bukilwa (Dreaming Whilst Black) as Sammie, Poppy Lee Friar (In My Skin) as Geri, Alisha Bailey (Save Me) as Kat, Molly Harris (Industry) as Jules, Sam Howard Sneyd (Clarity & Chaos) as Silas, Percelle Ascott (Tin Star) as Leon. The series also stars Lucy Cohu (COBRA), Christopher Jeffers (The Other One), Jonah Rzeskiewicz, and Maimuna Memon.

Domino Day: Lone Witch is created and written by Lauren Sequeira (Gangs of London), with individual episodes penned by Charlene James (A Discovery of Witches) and Haleema Mirza (Secret Invasion). Nick Pitt as series producer and Megan Ott as producer. Sequeira is also an executive producer alongside Laurence Bowen, Chris Carey, and Elinor Day for Dancing Ledge Productions and Lucy Richer and Ayela Butt for the BBC.

Domino Day: Lone Witch will premiere on Sundance Now and AMC+ with the series' first two installments, with new episodes weekly through July 25.
