Get ready to head back to Slough House: Season 2 of Apple TV's Slow Horses will premiere this December.

The first season of the series aired back in April of 2022, so the fact that we'll be seeing its second before even a year has passed is a fairly big deal. But Apple apparently has a great deal of confidence in the show and has already renewed it through Season 4. (Given how quickly virtually every other streamer—cough Netflix cough—appears to be canceling series or shortening orders, it's oddly nice to see one stand firmly behind its product.)

A darkly comedic espionage drama, Slow Horses is based on Mick Herron's bestselling series of novels. It follows a dysfunctional team of British intelligence agents who've all been reassigned to serve in a dumping-ground department of MI5 known un-affectionately as Slough House. Oldman stars as Jackson Lamb, the brilliant but irascible leader of the spies, who have all essentially been removed from the field for a variety of career-ending mistakes. Desperate to find their way back into the field, these misfits are willing to do anything to impress their boss---whether it's a good idea or not.

The six-episode second season will adapt Dead Lions, the second book in Herron's Slough House series. It will see finds long-buried Cold War secrets emerge which threaten to bring carnage to the streets of London. When a liaison with Russian villains takes a fatal turn, our hapless heroes must overcome their individual failings and raise their spy game in a race to prevent a catastrophic incident.

The series' stacked ensemble cast includes Academy Award nominee Kristin Scott Thomas (Rebecca) as Lamb's boss Diana Taverner, alongside Jack Lowden (The Long Song), Saskia Reeves (Roadkill)Rosalind Eleazar (Harlots), Christopher Chung (Waterloo Road), Freddie Fox (The Murders at White House Farm), Chris Reilly (Devils), Samuel West (All Creatures Great and Small), Sophie Okonedo (The Wheel of Time), Aimee-Ffion Edwards (Peaky Blinders), Kadiff Kirwan (This is Going to Hurt) and Academy Award nominee Jonathan Pryce (The Crown).

The first two episodes of Slow Horses Season 2 will premiere on December 2 with new episodes to follow weekly. Season 1 is currently streaming on Apple TV+.

Lacy's love of British TV is embarrassingly extensive, but primarily centers around evangelizing all things Doctor Who, and watching as many period dramas as possible.

Digital media type by day, she also has a fairly useless degree in British medieval literature, and dearly loves to talk about dream poetry, liminality, and the medieval religious vision. (Sadly, that opportunity presents itself very infrequently.) York apologist, Ninth Doctor enthusiast, and unabashed Ravenclaw. Say hi on Threads or Blue Sky at @LacyMB.
