Signora Volpe returns to Acorn TV for Season 2 at the end of July 2024; with only a couple of weeks until its return, the streaming service has officially released the trailer. The cozy crime series stars Emilia Fox (Silent Witness) as Sylvia Fox, an ex-MI-6 agent failing in her attempt to retire to the Italian countryside to live with her younger sister Isabel (Tara Fitzgerald) and Isabel's family. From the looks of the trailer, the gorgeous scenery will once again be disturbed by gunfire and murder; this time, it's coming close to home.

Most cozy crime series are the kind of show where the relationships between the characters are just as meaningful as the mysteries they're solving and the creation of a found family drawn together by the events. Signora Volpe stands out in the crowd because of its focus on the protagonist's actual family. Sylvia has spent her life with a found family; her exit from MI-6 and move to Italy is her trying to reconnect with her blood relations, specifically her sister.

Fox and Fitzgerald do a spectacular job of portraying a nuanced sibling relationship; those who play Isabel's family are a delight as they deal with this lost relationship suddenly occupying their space and upending their lives with her crime-solving antics. Season 1 saw the in-laws reach a truce and perhaps even the beginnings of a beautiful life-long relationship; Season 2 seems determined to test it.

Here's the official Season 2 synopsis:

As a high-ranking British spy, Sylvia’s physical prowess, investigative skills, surveillance expertise, and proficiency as a markswoman have made her exceptional at solving mysteries. At the end of season one, having fallen in love with Italy and re-established bonds with her sister Isabel, Sylvia decided to resign from her job at MI6 and start a new life in Umbria. But old habits die hard, and though Sylvia might have left her job at MI6 behind, her unique skill set and appetite for solving mysteries remain undiminished. Over the course of season two, she finds herself investigating the murder of a pillar of the local community and going undercover for MI6 at a perilous house party by the lake. Then, a dead man comes looking for vengeance, and Sylvia’s family has to race against time to save her life.

Here are the episode titles for this season's feature-length adventures:

  • Episode 1: A Debt of Honour
  • Episode 2: A Deadly Net
  • Episode 3: Death of a Ghost

Fox and Fitzgerald are joined by the returning Season 1 ensemble, Matteo Carlomagno (Jumper), Issy Knopfler (Before We Die), Imma Piro (Fontamara), and Giovanni Cirfiera (American Crime Story; The Assassination of Gianni Versace). Season 2 will also add Nicholas Farrell (The Crown) as the main guest star of the season. Series creators Rachel Cuperman and Sally Griffiths (Midsomer Murders) penned all episodes, with directors Bindu de Stoppani (Finding Camille) and Declan Recks (Death in Paradise) splitting helming duties.

Signora Volpe Season 2 will debut on Monday, July 29, streaming on Acorn TV and airing on BBC America at 8 p.m. ET. The series will stream/air weekly through August 12, 2024.
