Catch a new look at Endeavour and Grantchester in PBS's Summer of Mysteries preview.

This summer is going to be an exciting one for PBS viewers ready for the warm glow of an English summer. After nearly two years away, Grantchester is coming back to Masterpiece, with the final episodes starring James Norton and the introduction of a brand new Hot Priest. (Fans of Fleabag will agree, Hot Priests are totally in right now.) But that's not all. Kicking off the summer solstice is the return of Endeavour. Morse, that is, Endeavour Morse.

With a warm up from BBC America with Killing Eve and now Luther Season 5, this entire summer will be all about figuring out whodunit. New clips from both upcoming PBS shows have been smashed together in one teaser, celebrating this "Summer of Mystery."

Endeavour's synopsis for the season, which begins Sunday, June 16 with a run of four feature-length episodes, reads as follows:

In Endeavour, Season 6, Shaun Evans sports a new look as DS Endeavour Morse. The latest installment of Endeavour is set in 1969. Evans will also be putting his directorial mark on the show, heading behind the camera for the second 90-minute episode of the season. Endeavour will also be facing new challenges, with Morse having started a new role as a uniformed officer at the Woodstock police department and embracing the fashion of the period by growing a mustache.

Y'all, I just don't know if I can with the mustache, but for your sakes, I shall sally forth and try. At least we can rest assured it won't last into the 1980s?

Meanwhile, Grantchester's fourth season promises goodbyes and new beginnings, when it returns Sunday, July 14 with a run of six episodes:

Grantchester returns to Masterpiece with a new vicar: Tom Brittney (Outlander, Call the Midwife) who joins the cast of Season 4 as Reverend Will Davenport — man of the people and crime-solving partner to Robson Green’s Geordie Keating in 1950s Grantchester.  James Norton, who plays the charismatic, jazz-loving clergyman Sidney Chambers, makes his final appearance during the series. Confident, caring, and self-assured, Grantchester’s new young parish priest channels his boundless energy into a quest for social justice. He is a man of God, but with the devil inside of him. As Geordie draws him into righting the wrongs of criminal Cambridge, Will’s own troubled past is unearthed.

One slight spoiler from across the pond where Grantchester Season 4 has already aired brings excellent news for the new season. In the in-between period after Sydney Chambers first exits, but before new vicar Will really gets with the crime-solving program, everyone's favorite vicar's assistant Leonard (Al Weaver) will be attempting to help Geordie. For longtime fans of the show, that should be very fun indeed.

Endeavour Season 6 premieres on Sunday, June 16, 2019, at 9 p.m. ET, and will run four weeks, ending on July 7. Grantchester Season 4 will begin immediately following on the next Sunday, July 14, 2019, at the same time. As always, check your local listings.
