In the First Images From 'Outlander' Season 7, Part 2, the Series Returns to Scotland
Being a television fan has long been an activity that requires patience. For some....more patience is often required than others. For example, Outlander fans are so used to extended breaks between seasons that they've come up with a name for it: The Droughtlander. And we're in the middle of one.
It's been nearly a year since the first half of the series' seventh season aired, and there are still several months to go until the second batch of Season 7 episodes premieres in November. But cable network Starz has finally taken pity on fans by releasing the first batch of images from the new season, which show us the series' return to Scotland --- the first time Outlander has returned to the Highlands since all the way back in Season 3. (In the meantime the show has been everywhere from the court of King Louis XV in France to Revolutionary War America.)
The new run of episodes will pick up from the events of the midseason finale, which saw Claire (Caitriona Balfe), Jamie (Sam Heughan), and Young Ian (John Bell) leave the American colonies to return to Scotland. The gang is presumably headed straight for Lallybroch, where, as the initial images show, they'll reunite with several familiar faces, including Ian (Steven Cree) and (hopefully!) Jamie's older sister Jenny (Kristin Atherton).
Meanwhile, Roger (Richard Rankin) and Brianna (Sophie Skelton) are facing their own problems across time as the he journies through the stones to find their missing child and she remains behind in the 1980s.
Here's the Season 7, Part 2 synopsis:
Coming off of the first half of Outlander season seven, viewers find Claire, Jamie, and Young Ian leaving the colonies and arriving in their beloved homeland: Scotland. The perils of the Revolutionary War forced them to choose between standing by those they loved and fighting for the land they had made their new home. Meanwhile, Roger and Brianna face new enemies across time and must battle the forces that threaten to pull their family apart. As loyalties change and painful secrets come to light, Jamie and Claire’s marriage is tested like never before. With their love binding them over oceans and centuries, can the MacKenzies and Frasers find their way back to each other?
Alongside Balfe, Heughan, Skelton, Rankin, and Bell, “Outlander” also stars David Berry (Hapless) as Lord John Grey, Charles Vandervaart (Murdoch Mysteries) as William Random, Izzy Meikle-Small (Ripper Street) as Quaker woman Rachel Hunter and Joey Phillips (Doctors) as her brother, Dr. Denzell Hunter.
Outlander has already been renewed for an eighth and final season. Outlander: Blood of My Blood, a prequel series about the love stories between both Jamie and Claire's parents, is currently filming, with an eye to a 2025 premiere.
Season 7, Part 2 will premiere on Friday, November 22, 2024, and air/stream new episodes weekly on Starz's linear network, the Starz app, and all Starz streaming and on-demand platforms.
