Some of the biggest performers in the world regularly take to the stage in London's West End, and the city's booming, vibrant theater scene can often leave American Anglophiles feeling a bit left out when it comes to seeing their favorite British actors perform live. At the moment, three major Doctor Who stars are currently gearing up to lead Fall productions, and popular actors like Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), and Rosamund Pike (Saltburn) are all slated to headline various shows next year.

But there's good news for those who missed out on seeing Michael Sheen's (A Very Royal Scandal) performance in last summer's National Theatre production of Nye. The National Theater will be making the full production available to stream on YouTube for a long weekend in November ahead of what would have been Aneurin Bevan's 127th birthday.

The latest play from Tim Price, Nye explores the life of the beloved Labour politician who spearheaded the creation of Britain’s National Health Service. It played to sold-out crowds in London and Cardiff earlier this year, and was so popular, it will be reprised again next summer in both locations with the original cast.

The National Theatre regularly films its productions for cinema screenings around the world as part of its National Theatre Live program, and runs a streaming service (National Theatre at Home) that allows viewers to subscribe and watch a rotating series of its past offerings online.

Given that Nye will be returning to its stage next summer, it's unlikely the production will join the National Theatre at Home lineup anytime soon, which makes its weekend of free streaming all the more exciting for theater lovers who couldn't make it to London or Wales this year. (Or aren't planning to attempt it in 2025.)

Alongside Sheen, the cast features Remy Beasley, Roger Evans, Jon Furlong, Stephanie Jacob, Kezrena James, Tony Jayawardena, Rebecca Killick, Rhodri Meilir, and Sharon Small.

The larger ensemble includes Matthew Bulgo, Dyfan Dwyfor, Ross Foley, Daniel Hawksford, Bea Holland, Michael Keane, Nicholas Khan, Oliver Llewellyn-Jenkins, Mark Matthews, Ashley Mejri, Lee Mengo, David Monteith, Mali O’Donnell, and Sara Otung.

A co-production with the Wales Millennium Centre, Nye is directed by the National Theatre's outgoing Artistic Director Rufus Norris. Its creative team includes set designer Vicki Mortimer, costume designer Kinnetia Isidore, lighting designer Paule Constable, co-choreographers Steven Hoggett and Jess Williams, composer Will Stuart, and sound designer Donato Wharton.

Nye will be able to stream for free on YouTube beginning at 7 pm GMT on November 7 through November 11.

Lacy's love of British TV is embarrassingly extensive, but primarily centers around evangelizing all things Doctor Who, and watching as many period dramas as possible.

Digital media type by day, she also has a fairly useless degree in British medieval literature, and dearly loves to talk about dream poetry, liminality, and the medieval religious vision. (Sadly, that opportunity presents itself very infrequently.) York apologist, Ninth Doctor enthusiast, and unabashed Ravenclaw. Say hi on Threads or Blue Sky at @LacyMB.
