'Out of the Dust' Reveals Star-Studded Cast as Series Begins Filming
Out of the Dust first surfaced in February 2024 when What's On Netflix discovered the project. The streaming giant was keeping the series under wraps and refused to confirm or deny its existence at the time. But the truth will out, and as the final week of August rolled in, the production gave an exclusive to Variety that the series was, in fact, real and was going into production in the U.K. Further, the main ensemble cast was revealed. It featured enough A-list talent (most of whom are Neflix veterans) that it immediately shot to the top of the must-watch list.
The cast in question features Asa Butterfield (Sex Education) and Molly Windsor (Traces) as the show's lead couple, with Fra Fee (Lost Boys & Fairies) as the man who comes between them. Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who) and Siobhan Finneran (Downton Abbey) round out the leading ensemble.
Filming has only just commenced on Out of the Dust. Unlike some Netflix productions, the production has not listed a planned completion date, so it's hard to know precisely how long the show will take to film or any sort of release window estimate. The show is confirmed as six one-hour installments, so it's a good bet it'll be done in time for the holidays and probably arrive in 2025 or 2026.
