Watch an Exclusive Sneak Peek of 'Mrs. Sidhu Investigates' Season 1's Final Episode
Acorn TV's latest mystery, the delightful BBC 4 audio drama turned TV series Mrs. Sidhu Investigates, concludes just in time for Canadian Thanksgiving, a proper end for a show about a caterer who goes around feeding everyone as she solves the crimes at hand. The series, conceived by Suk Pannu, stars Meera Syal (Goodness Gracious Me), reprising her role from the BBC 4 version of the series as the titular Indian Aunty amateur sleuth. Syal costars alongside Craig Parkinson as DCI Burton, the long-suffering detective she's attached herself to, and Naana Agyei Ampadu as his assistant, Sgt. Mint.
The series is Acorn TV's most delectable premiere of 2023. Our reviewer lamented it did not come with a cookbook or little YouTube tutorials to make Mrs. Sidhu's seemingly endless signature dishes. The catering conceit also allows the series to set its mysteries in different locales every week, with episodes ranging from a Rennaissance festival/comic-con type event to last week's hilarious send-up of a new media style tech company. Syal's knack for comedy keeps the mysteries from getting too serious, a welcome change from the trend of dark and gritty.
In this exclusive clip from the show's Season 1 finale episode, Mrs. Sidhu breezes into DCI Burton's latest case at a boxing gym. Check it out below:
